Our client is an owner-builder seeking to construct a small studio in which he can indulge his passion for arts and crafts. He asked us to help him realise his vision for a studio with character, using cordwood as the preferred building material. Cordwood construction is a term used for a natural building method in which short logs are piled crosswise to build a wall, using mortar or cob to permanently secure them. This technique can use local materials at minimal cost. We are working through the design and documentation phase to help the owner gain building approval.
